Termination of I-Hawk security service

Due to unsatisfied services provided by I-Hawk security company, we decided to exercise our right to terminate their services. The last day of their service will be on 30th November 2010 (effective period till 7.00am 1st Dec 2010).

The new security company, ArmourGuard (M) Sdn. Bhd., with slightly higher fee of RM11,500 per month, agreed to takeover the service, effective 7.00am 1st Dec 2010, with the same terms and conditions.

  1. It is noticed that some homes have yellow stickers with the words 'fully paid members'. My question is, why the disparity to those though who could ill afford it but nonetheless show support of RADA by paying according to what they can dispense with?

Isn't this a blatant disregard of our sincerity?

The perception is that we were 'persuaded' to support and once the numbers met with requirements, we are shunned aside.

I should like a satisfactory explanation otherwise I don't see any need to continue paying.

  2. Initially we only accept membership application, i.e. on RM70/mth. However we have many requests from tenants/retirees/non-residents that can't pay RM70 per month, offer themselves to support RADA's effort to improve living emvironment of our Taman, by paying less (RM30-50). This is a total voluntary contribution with no conditions attached. For appreciation, we included them in our list as "contributor".

"Members" have full benefit and protection than "contributors", which the ratio is about 82% vs 3%. Members enjoying 4 free stickers, house plate, free house insurance coverage (up to RM10,000), instant support in case of emergency, extra attention for member's house if owners going overseas/outstation, and will enjoy better relationship with neighbours (financially helping each other to protect our home), emergency telephone help, newsletter etc.

We always encourage all residents to support the voluntary effort from committee, by joining us as members. Ordinary members are paying RM70 per month, but many others are not just paying RM70, instead do much more by visiting house to house for fees day and night, taking action on complaints made, supervising guards performance, attend numerous meetings to solve residents problems, visiting government for lodging comlaints, etc, yet still treated like beggers by non-members/outsiders (luckily this is very small portion).

Most contributors are sincerely supporting us without asking anything. We do not force anyone to join members too. Yes we try to provide all sorts of benefit for members to appreciate their support. For a slightly extra of fee, contributors can enjoy like others. Remember, the more people joining members, the lesser burden on security fees and we will need to pay less in future. Our accounts are opened for every members. We are continueing doing more and more to protect our residents, and we receive very strong support from Police and relevant government departments.

Please help encourage each other to join members, also helping us to reduce monthly member fees.

  3. If we go around and look at those without yellow sticker, I can find some houses with car that are way beyond what I can afford, or houses that are renovated that you would not even categorised them as poor or ill afford. Why not go after them, instead of threatening not to pay and all of us lose the protection that we are enjoying for the past 2 months?. I live in fear even since I moved into this taman not too long ago. Who is going to help me when I have 3 masked men with knife pointing at my neck after they managed to break into my house? Mind you, i have 2 alarms, security door, reinforced grill, you name it, i have it. But I am not going to take the chance to allow anything like that to happen to my family. RM70 I will pay, just need to go for one less dinner outside per month.

  4. For those who are not paying the full RM70, ask yourself, are you really that poor? The rest of us (full paying member) could have the opportunity to pay less than RM 70 if the rest of the non full member and so called "ill afford" join in and pay. However, I don't deny there are out there some really ill afford family which i do symphatise with them and not require them to contribute, I willingly share the security with them even though I have to fork out more money. But the rest, ......you should think about it.

  5. As far as I am concerned, those who don't pay (unless they really can't afford it) are just cheap-skate free-loaders. They know that even though they don't pay, they still enjoy the security. Maybe we should stop and check all cars without stickers. Such "inconvenience" may eventually make them think twice about NOT paying....
